The Mercia Novice Open is a competition open to fencers aged 13 or older as of January 1st 2023. We regard it as a great way into competition for people, as it's open to fencers with Starter, Recreational or Compete membership of British Fencing - as well as the usual medals for winners in each category, there are also special prizes for first-time competitors. This is not a ranking competition.

There will be 2 rounds of poules, which may be mixed gender depending on numbers, and everyone will go into the DE.

There will be an armourer present and there will also be a stall from Excalibur Sports, making it possible to try on kit or buy it and collect it there.
